LSI has three Executive Officers –CEO, CFO, and CCDO– who serve as the Corporate Board of Directors with total oversight of company business objectives and strategies. The Executive Officers control the operating budget of the Corporation and designate officers which serve as Production Vice Presidents for functional areas of operations within LSI.
Charlie Johns serves on the Board of Directors and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2006 following conversion of LSI’s ownership to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). He has the overall responsibility for all of LSI’s revenue producing business operations. With more than 25 years at LSI, Charlie has worked directly in every phase of training development and has filled positions at each level of management from project lead through Program Manager for major government contracts, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. As CEO, he provides leadership and focus on the organizational and production requirements needed to ensure all programs are fully supported by personnel resources and facilities. Charlie joined LSI in 1983 after a 21 year career in the U.S. Navy during which he specialized in training aircrews and maintenance personnel in the operation and support of modern military aircraft and weapons systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Education (with Honors), from Southern Illinois University.
Warren Rosander serves on the Board of Directors and supervises the Finance, Human Resources, Contracts and Purchasing, and Information Services functions. He is the chief financial spokesperson for LSI, and assists the other corporate officers on all strategic matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding. He ensures that the systems of internal accounting controls safeguard the financial assets of the organization and that cost and pricing submissions are compliant with all regulatory requirements. He coordinates external financial audits, oversees LSI’s risk management and benefits offerings, administers tax filings and ensures that LSI is compliant with all debt terms and covenants. Along with the other members of the Board, Warren was a catalyst for LSI’s conversion to an ESOP. Prior to joining LSI in 1991, Warren spent nearly five years with Price Waterhouse before co-founding a local CPA practice, where he was a partner for seven years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (with Honors) from the University of Florida, and is a member of both the Florida and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA and AICPA). In 2009, he was recognized by the Jacksonville Business Journal as one of the “Ultimate CFOs” in Northeast Florida.
Phil Voss serves on the Board of Directors and spearheads strategic and corporate planning and coordinates marketing, business development, and proposal development across all company lines of business. He is responsible for Government and customer relations and ensures that we meet and satisfy customer requirements through our Quality Management Program. Phil has more than 40 years of defense management and strategic planning with specific experience in military training requirements in domestic and international environments. Phil joined LSI in 1998 as the Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development. Prior to joining LSI, Phil spent three years as the President and founder of a Defense Consulting firm for numerous major corporations in the U.S. Defense Industry. He is a retired Navy Captain and served as the Commodore of the Atlantic Fleet Sea Control Wing. During his 30-year military career, he also commanded two carrier squadrons and served as a special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations for strategic plans. He is a Distinguished Graduate from the Naval War College, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing as well as Masters’ degrees in International Relations and National Security Affairs.
Mike French is responsible for the day to day operations of the company. He is LSI’s principal contact for all Navy Surface and Subsurface Programs. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) leading the LSI Project Management Office and serves as the Officer level Technical advisor. Since joining LSI, he has served as a Director and Program Manager for multiple military training projects including the CV-22 tilt-rotor program and the Navy’s Engineering Plant Operators Continuum (EPOC) program. Prior to joining LSI, Mike was the CSC Site Manager supervising numerous upgrades for naval aircraft flight simulators. During his naval career, he served as the Executive Officer of a Fleet readiness squadron and the Training Officer of an Atlantic Fleet Type Wing. He holds an MBA (summa cum laude) from Jacksonville University and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (cum laude) from Auburn University where he was the Outstanding Graduate from the School of Engineering.
Mike Griffin is LSI’s primary point of contact for NAVAIR Orlando Acquisition Officers and Program Managers. He has served as Program Manager for the V-22 Tilt-rotor programs for the USMC and USAF and the Navy’s P-3 FRS Revision and Maintenance program. Prior to joining LSI in 1999, he served as a Senior Aviation Consultant in support of numerous major Aerospace and Defense Corporations. He retired as a Navy Captain following a 25-year naval career. He was the Commanding Officer of VP-30, the Navy’s largest aviation training squadron. He was also assigned as a Personnel Exchange Program Officer to the Canadian Armed Forces and served on the staff of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as a National War Planner for the Pacific Command Theater. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Florida as well as Masters’ degrees in Business Administration and International Strategic Studies.
Mike Guiry is LSI’s principal contact for all Army Programs and for training systems requiring hardware and/or software trainer simulation solutions. He also serves as LSI’s Program Manager for the Army’s PEO STRI STOC II contract. Mike joined LSI in 1997 as an Aegis Weapons Systems Subject Matter Expert and has since supported a myriad of Army and Navy training programs as a Courseware Developer, Project Manager and Program Manager. Prior to joining LSI, Mike served in the Navy for 26 years as a shipboard Combat Systems Electronics Technician and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Workforce Education from Southern Illinois and a Master’s Certificate in Instructional Design from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
Ed Turner is LSI’s primary point of contact for identifying and developing training solutions for international defense partners. Prior to joining LSI in 2011, he served as a Navy Captain in a 30-year naval career. His final assignment in the service was as the Commanding Officer of Naval Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity (NETSAFA), responsible for the coordination and management of all the Department of the Navy’s global Security Cooperation training programs. Other Navy assignments included Chief of Staff for the Naval Education and Training Command, a command of 11,000 responsible for the US Navy’s accession through master level training and education programs; the command of two aircraft carrier based squadrons; and Director of Current Operations for the US Southern Command area of responsibility. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Oceanography from the US Naval Academy and has Masters Degree from the Naval Command and Staff College in National Security and Strategic Studies.
