Virtual Interactive Training

Apache Virtual Interactive Environment (VIE)

The Apache Virtual Interactive Environment is a desktop application that allows trainees to accomplish Maintenance Operational Checks and Fault Isolation Procedures.  The virtual training is used to support initial and skill maintenance instruction for Helicopter Repairer and Aircraft Electrician Maintenance personnel.  The training also supports remove, install, and fault isolation scenarios for aircraft systems and subsystems.

Chinook Virtual Interactive Environment (VIE)

The Chinook Virtual Interactive Environment is a desktop application that allows trainees to accomplish Electrical Fault Isolation Procedures. The virtual training is used to support initial and skill maintenance instruction for Helicopter Repairer and Aircraft Electrician Maintenance personnel.  The training also supports remove, install, and fault isolation scenarios for aircraft systems and subsystems.

Chinook Desktop Trainer (CDT)

The Chinook Desktop Trainer (CDT) emulates the Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) of the CH-47F helicopter.  LSI developed the CDT for PM Cargo Helicopters for use in their electronic classrooms to train CH-47F pilots in engine startup and shutdown procedures, aircraft controls and displays, mission planning, and in-flight tasks, to include instrument flight procedures and selectable emergency procedures.

Chinook Component Locator (CLT)

The Chinook Component Locator (CLT) provides tools to locate and identify helicopter components in a 3D virtual representation of the CH-47F helicopter.  The user can freely investigate the aircraft panel by panel or utilize the search function to locate the desired component.  Selectable components are highlighted in green, and each component has a tailored description.

Apache Component Locator

The Apache 3D Component Locator is a virtual application that provides users with location of components within the Apache helicopter.  The Component Locator has been developed to run on both Windows OS and Android mobile devices.  The Component Locator is used by the Longbow New Equipment Training Team (NETT) and Ft. Eustis instructors as a tool for providing training to maintenance personnel.  The main screen consists of a 3D helicopter that can be accessed by clicking on areas of the Apache model to open up access panels or crew stations.  The components are represented by high resolution photographs with accompanied function and description.  The Component Locator employs menu items that set the Component Locator to a state so that only the items related to that pull-down option will be available.  These menu options include:

  • Special and Scheduled Inspections
  • Peculiar Ground Support Equipment (PGSE) and GSE
  • Inventory Items
  • Functional Flows of several aircraft systems
  • Weight and Balance Inventory
  • Search – allows user to search for a component using a word within the component’s title or description

Flight Controls VIE (SAP)

The AH64D Flight Controls Virtual Interactive Environment (VIE) is a training aid designed to assist Critical Task Maintenance Training instructors and Maintenance Test Pilot instructors to teach theory of operation and specific rigging procedures for the AH64D Flight Controls.

The virtual flight controls can be moved in any direction relative to its position on screen, rotated to any angle, expanded or shrunk, cross-sectioned in any direction and dissected in any manner in support of the training objectives. The learner can observe instructor demonstrations and then perform the procedures individually.

Engine Simulation (SAP)

The T-700/701 Engine Virtual Interactive Environment (VIE) is a training aid designed to assist Critical Task Maintenance Training instructors and Maintenance Test Pilot instructors to teach theory of operation and procedures for the T-700/T701C/D engine. The virtual engine can be moved in any direction, rotated to any angle, expanded or shrunk, cross-sectioned in any direction and dissected in any manner in support of the training objectives. The learner can observe instructor demonstrations and then perform the procedures as instructed or they can use the IETM display to perform Fault Isolation Procedures (FIP) or Maintenance Operational Checks (MOC).

Drives (SAP)

The AH64D Drives Visual Enterprise (VE) is a training aid designed to assist Critical Task Maintenance Training instructors, Maintenance Test Pilot instructors and Maintainers to teach theory of operation and specific procedures for the AH64D Drives Systems.

The virtual Drives Systems can be moved in any direction relative to its position on screen, rotated to any angle, expanded or shrunk, cross-sectioned in any direction and dissected in any manner in support of the training objectives. Provides maintenance training under the following AH-64E tasks categories:

  • Maintenance Operational Check (MOC) procedures
  • Fault Isolation Procedures
  • Operational Checks and Failures

The learner can observe instructor demonstrations and then perform the procedures individually.
