LSI, Inc of Jacksonville has announced that it has acquired substantially all the assets of Aviation Systems Inc. (ASI) of Northwest Florida.

LSI, Inc of Jacksonville (originally founded as Logistic Services International) has announced that it has acquired substantially all the assets of Aviation Systems Inc. (ASI) of Northwest Florida effective December 2010.

ASI was founded in 1994 in Pensacola, Florida to provide training device design, engineering, manufacturing and repair services for the U.S. Department of Defense. ASI’s facility consists of approximately 20,000 square feet of combined office and production spaces located in Pensacola and approximately 50 employees. For nearly 15 years, LSI has maintained a unique working partnership with ASI. Together, LSI and ASI have successfully produced training devices, device modifications and courseware for both Navy and Army programs. Due to complementary core competencies, LSI agreed to acquire ASI of NW Florida through a formal Letter of Intent earlier this year, and the acquisition was finalized by a Purchase Agreement in December 2010.

LSI is a privately-held, employee-owned defense training company headquartered in Jacksonville. They currently have over 450 full-time employees with 350 at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. LSI has supported the Department of Defense and foreign militaries for over 32 years. Their training products and services for the defense industry includes Instructional Systems Design (ISD) and courseware development; training devices and desktop simulations; gaming applications and technology; electronic classroom design and installation; instructor services; and technical data support. LSI’s corporate headquarters and primary production facilities are in Jacksonville, FL, with satellite offices in North Carolina, Virginia, New Mexico, Texas and California, in addition to the new Pensacola facility.

LSI’s is currently expanding their offices at Cecil Field on Jacksonville’s Westside. The 24,000 square-foot expansion will provide the company with a total of 124,000 square feet of office and production space. Construction of the new space is slated to be completed by the end of January 2011. Once the project is finished, all of LSI’s Jacksonville operations will be transferred and consolidated at Cecil Field.

Following a seamless integration, the former ASI operations and facility in Pensacola, Florida will serve as LSI’s primary Hardware Production facility for LSI’s Training Device Group (TDG). The Training Device Group will continue to provide manufacturing and re-manufacturing of training devices, part-task trainers, trainer modifications, and device maintenance services to our valued customers throughout the defense industry.
