LSI’s fifth AH-64E Longbow/Apache Helicopter Maintenance Trainer Multiplex, Avionics, Visionics, Weapons Electrical Systems Trainer-L7 (L-7AY) , or MAVWEST for short is wrapping up Contractor Preliminary Inspection (CPI). The L-7AY MAVWEST is the most sophisticated maintenance trainer built to date by LSI. Designed to provide training to both 15R (AH-64 Attack Helicopter Repairer) and 15Y (Armament/Electrical/Avionic Systems Repairer) students, the trainer has a fully functional Hydraulic system, ECS system, Pressurized Air system, Gun and Ammo Handling system, Flight Control system, Pylons and AIA (M-TADS/PNVS). LSI has used both Crash Damaged Aircraft (CDA) and CAT-B airframes as GFE to produce these devices.
