The Apache 3D Component Locator is a virtual application that provides users with location of components within the Apache helicopter. The Component Locator has been developed to run on both Windows OS and Android mobile devices. The Component Locator is used by the Longbow New Equipment Training Team (NETT) and Ft. Eustis instructors as a tool for providing training to maintenance personnel. The main screen consists of a 3D helicopter that can be accessed by clicking on areas of the Apache model to open up access panels or crew stations. The components are represented by high resolution photographs with accompanied function and description. The Component Locator employs menu items that set the Component Locator to a state so that only the items related to that pull-down option will be available. These menu options include:
- Special and Scheduled Inspections
- Peculiar Ground Support Equipment (PGSE) and GSE
- Inventory Items
- Functional Flows of several aircraft systems
- Weight and Balance Inventory
- Search – allows user to search for a component using a word within the component’s title or description
